Mohammed Saeed Al Shehhi, Secretary-General of the UAE Media Council, headed the UAE delegation participating in the meetings of the Undersecretaries of the Ministries of Information of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, held today in Kuwait.
The meeting was attended by Mohammed Al Dhahouri, Executive Director of the Media Operations Sector at the National Media Office, and Maitha Al Suwaidi, Executive Director of the Media Strategy and Policies Sector at the UAE Media Council.
In his speech during the meeting, he expressed his thanks and appreciation to the sisterly State of Kuwait for the warm reception and organization, and to the GCC General Secretariat for its continuous follow-up of the work of the media committees.
He emphasized that Gulf media is currently witnessing a qualitative shift in its roles, from a traditional medium to an influential force shaping awareness and preserving identity. He said that this shift places a double responsibility on us to develop comprehensive Gulf media policies that advance content and fortify the digital space, protecting the values and supreme interests of our societies.
The meeting discussed a number of priority topics for joint media work, most notably the age classification of video games, the guide and regulations for producing Gulf productions, activating media partnerships with regional and international organizations, in addition to initiatives to employ artificial intelligence in the media industry and Gulf media leadership development programs.
This meeting comes within the framework of ongoing efforts to develop a joint Gulf media system and unify visions for building responsible media that keeps pace with global changes and protects the interests and deeply-rooted values of Gulf societies.
