Announces 1,800 Advertiser permits

The UAE Media Council announced, from the platform of the 14th edition of the International Government Communication Forum, which began yesterday in the Emirate of Sharjah under the slogan “Communication for Quality of Life”, the issuance of more than 1,800 “Advertiser” permits. This initiative, launched recently to strengthen and regulate advertising activity across social media platforms nationwide, comes as part of its efforts to reinforce the UAE’s position as a global hub for advertising content creation.

The record demand for the “Advertiser” permit contributes to accelerating its main objectives, which include supporting investment in advertising content production, enhancing the competitiveness of the digital advertising sector in the country, attracting and empowering creative talents, and protecting the public from advertisements that fall short of approved standards and prevailing societal values.

The Council also announced the launch of the “Advertiser Permit Guide 2025” to regulate advertising content on social media. The guide outlines the procedures and steps for citizens, residents, visitors, and companies to obtain the permit once they meet the necessary requirements. It also introduces the multiple authorized entities in each emirate responsible for issuing the permit, and reviews the wide range of business activities eligible to apply, including advertising services through websites and social media platforms, e-commerce, and marketing management.

Mohammed Saeed Al Shehhi, Secretary-General of the UAE Media Council, affirmed that the UAE continues to build a vibrant, integrated media environment that empowers creatives, attracts talent, and draws investments, with sustainable positive impacts for all.

He also noted that the issuance of more than 1,800 “Advertiser” permits from 75 countries is clear evidence that it meets the aspirations of advertisers on social media, whether individuals or companies.

Clear and Transparent Framework

Regarding the issuance of the “Advertiser Permit Guide,” Mohammed Al Shehhi said:
“The ‘Advertiser Permit Guide’ launched by the UAE Media Council provides a clear and transparent framework for creatives and companies working in the advertising industry. It encourages them to take the initiative to register, ensuring that their advertising production in the digital space adheres to the approved regulatory framework. This enables them to benefit from the unique opportunities that the UAE offers regionally and globally, with its skilled talent, resources, and investments in this vital sector.

The guide outlines the key advertising requirements, conditions for choosing the account name of the permit holder, and details the types of permits available. These include permits for citizens and residents valid for one full year, renewable annually, while permits for visiting advertisers are granted for three months, extendable up to six months, in order to encourage direct investment in the UAE’s advanced advertising sector.”
