UAE Media Council participates in the Abu Dhabi Book Fair 2025
UAE Media Council is participating in the 34th edition of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair (ADIBF), which is being held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) from April 26 to May 5, 2025. This participation is part of the council’s efforts to explore prospects for joint cooperation with local and international publishers and attract major global publishing houses to benefit from the competitive media environment and advanced infrastructure provided by the UAE. Through this participation, the council seeks to introduce local and international publishers to the updates made to the media legislation system and procedures regulating the publishing industry, which aim to build a stimulating and sustainable environment that supports publishing, takes into account intellectual property requirements, and keeps pace with developments in digital publishing and new models for content distribution. His Excellency Mohammed Saeed Al Shehhi, Secretary-General of the UAE Media Council, affirmed that the council’s participation in this prominent cultural event in the region reflects its commitment to strengthening the UAE’s position as a regional hub for the publishing industry. He said: “The publishing sector in the UAE is witnessing qualitative developments, and through its participation, the Council is keen to provide publishers and creators with the opportunity to learn about the new publishing industry system, which provides flexible, proactive services that facilitate operations and ensure compliance with local and international standards.” He added that the Council is working to establish the UAE as a global media hub and believes that publishing is not only a cultural industry, but also an economic tributary and a cultural facade that expresses our values and opens new horizons for our youth, writers, and creators. During the exhibition, the Council is organizing a series of meetings with local, regional, and international publishers to discuss prospects for cooperation, explore joint investment opportunities, and examine global best practices in the publishing industry. The Council is also allocating a space within its pavilion to showcase national publishing-related initiatives, including the “Emirati Writers” initiative, launched by the Council in partnership with ELF Publishing House, with the aim of supporting Emirati writers and connecting them with global publishing houses. The initiative has helped showcase a number of Emirati authors at prestigious international exhibitions, and has translated and distributed their works in new markets, enhancing the country’s cultural and intellectual presence globally. The UAE Media Council invites visitors to the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair to visit the council’s pavilion to learn about the latest media initiatives launched and ways to enhance cooperation in the cultural and media fields in the UAE.
